Pitching a cramped (and not totally watertight!) tent and sleeping under the stars for a few nights is so yesterday. These days, becoming one with nature doesn’t have to mean giving up our homely comforts like WiFi, a memory foam mattress and most importantly – a proper meal! With glamping sites now dotted all over the country, it’s easier than ever for people to enjoy all the benefits of an outdoorsy holiday without being eaten alive by bugs or facing a night of starvation because they didn’t pack enough food (we’ve all been there!); so when Jennifer realised that her local glamourous-camping site was having a flash sale, she and her bridesmaids decided that a moonlit weekend away would make for the perfect hen do.
Unable to agree on eating plans, bride-to-be Jennifer turned to Google which is where she stumbled across the Hog Roast Thurstaton website and after skimming through our positive reviews, she decided to pick up the phone. After discussing our expansive menu options with our experienced catering manager, it was decided that our classic hog roast menu would be served on both days of the client’s hen party getaway as it offers a range of delicious food and has gained a reputation for itself as a real crowd-pleaser.
Last weekend, the Hog Roast Thurstaton catering crew arrived at the campsite in the late morning where they began cooking the mouth-watering menu in preparation for the arrival of Jennifer and her 30 guests. Setting up outside the girl’s glamping pods, the team whipped up a whole roasted pig with apple sauce, stuffing and crispy crackling, locally sourced free-range chickens with homemade onion gravy, BBQ 100% beef handmade burgers, chicken kebabs and meaty marinated spare ribs. There was also a meat-free alternative of grilled vegetable and haloumi skewers which paired nicely with the inclusive gluten-free rolls, wraps and condiments which allowed guests to experiment with their own flavour combinations.
Jennifer and her gal pals were blown away by the spread laid out by the Hog Roast Thurstaton team and were quick to dig into the succulent meats on offer; and by the following day, even those who had never eaten a hog roast before were fully converted. We’ve since received feedback from Jennifer and the girls who couldn’t have been happier with how their weekend panned out.
