Hog Roast Caldy – Putting On The Perfect Fest For The Big Day

Cornwall - chicken1Here at Hog Roast Caldy, we’ve catered so many different kinds of events and parties over many years now, from school fetes to corporate events and birthdays to christenings. One kind of function that will always require catering and which we will always have bookings for is wedding receptions, and all year-round, we’re asked to provide hog and spit roasts to celebrate a couple’s nuptials. However, what you may not know is that we can provide so much more than hog and spit roasts, despite them being our forte. We can always cater varying tastes by providing different meats and additional dishes but we can also cater various diets, too, and we provide plenty of alternatives so that everyone invited is able to eat our tasty food at your special occasion.

We recently catered a wedding at a hotel nearby, where the venue’s own wedding planner called Hog Roast Caldy and booked us in for a feast that would include an option for a special diet. The main menu would be our Southern Slow Roast, with Cajun-spiced whole roast chickens, Louisiana sticky pork ribs and Creole pulled quarter of spiced lamb served to most of the 90 guests, together with four sides, bread rolls and wraps and plenty of tasty sauces. The chicken, ribs and lamb are marinated in advance and on the day, we cook them slowly and at a low temperature, which results in tender, soft and melt in the mouth meat.

For this wedding, we would also be serving a Greek salad, mac and cheese, spicy potato wedges and our homemade coleslaw, and the wedding planner asked us about a vegetarian choice. With this menu, we already offer a homemade vegetarian option of halloumi and vegetable kebabs with a Tzatziki sauce, and the side dishes are also suitable for vegetarians.

Lanarkshire - wedges Hog Roast Caldy arrived at the lovely hotel venue hours before food service, and got to work cooking the marinated meats after setting up our equipment. By mid-afternoon, the meats, veggie option and sides were all ready to be served, so we got ready for the hungry guests to queue up.
